Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:1. Explain the capabilities and limitations of different biomechanical equipment in their use to assess human movement;
2. Collect and analyse data from multiple pieces of biomechanical equipment to assess human movement;
3. Describe and analyse typical and pathological human gait to identify deviations, causes, and intervention strategies; and
4. Apply biomechanical knowledge in sport, clinical, and occupational settings.

Participation requirements
There are no compulsory attendance requirements. However, students are expected to engage with learning material and encouraged to attend all practical laboratory classes.
Lectures
All lectures will be pre-recorded lectures and provided via ÂÜÀòÊÓÆµLearn.
Practical Laboratory Classes
The practical session represents an opportunity to apply content covered in lectures/readings and thus provide a vital part of the understanding and learning process. Students are encouraged to attend all practical sessions. Data for the Gait Lab Report assessment will be collected and processed during some of the practical sessions. Summary data will then be made available via the Biomechanics 2 ÂÜÀòÊÓÆµLearn site. The Case Study Assessment will be completed in Week 13 during the allocated practical session and requires all students to attend. As the Gait Lab Report and Case Study Assessment relate heavily to the practical activities, it is important students attend the practical classes.
Required IT skills
The use of ÂÜÀòÊÓÆµLearn, library searching skills, word processing, manipulation of data and creation of graphs using Excel (or similar software), and electronic presentation skills are necessary for this unit.
